Hello DC. http://twitpic.com/ms6mg

Had great veggie burrito from a nice little roadside stand for lunch. If you’re ever in rural VA check out epicuriouscow.com

Good advice.

Good advice.

Started the day with a nice 5k walk/run through the gentle rolling roads of Castleton, VA. Actually, I started the day when my dad woke me up with a load Hoorah! at 8 AM. Good thing I was already starting the wake up process.

I did the walk/run with my dad. He’s been running a lot lately, and will be joining me in DC to run the Marine Corp 10k. The run actually brought me back to a time long ago when he and I trained for a few months for the Austin 10k in 1994. Fifteen years later, we were at it again. Although he was tad bit slower today than during those training runs in 15 years ago, he now has the honor of being the fastest 65 year-old I know.

Let’s share my experience with pictures! Want to see data from our run? Click here.

Well, the adventure that will be this weekend began in earnest last night. After arriving in Baltimore I quickly discovered that I had misplaced my driver’s license. Luckily, I was pretty sure that it had fallen out on the plane. After a quick call to the amazing customer service representatives at Southwest we were back on the shuttle back to the terminal to retrieve the license from the clutches of lost and found.

My father and I had decided to stay the night with my Aunt and Uncle in the Shenandoah Valley. What was supposed to be a relaxing three hour drive turned into a 5+ hour affair. At one point we had pray that our Toyota Versa would traverse a shallow wash and a less than visible bridge just to accidentally drive onto someone’s property, get yelled at, and promptly chased away. After a another hour driving through the fog sticking to the Virginia back country roads we finally made it our destination.

I guess you shouldn’t always trust iPhone GPS navigation.

Nice and easy 5k tune up with my dad this morning. HOORAH! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/16963716
